Responding to the press about Caracas's decision to expel all diplomatic staff from seven Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, after these countries did not recognize the results of the presidential election on July 28, Ms. Toha affirmed that this action is very worrying because 700,000 Venezuelans living in Chile "will be abandoned".

According to Minister Toha, despite the expulsion of diplomatic staff, the Chilean government “will not deviate from the main objective of the international community at this time: to ensure that the elections in Venezuela have a transparent, verifiable result and that the will of the Venezuelan people is respected”.

On his social media account X, Chilean President Gabriel Boric called on the Venezuelan government to publicly and fully publish election reports and minutes.

Previously, on July 29, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil announced that he had requested the withdrawal of all Venezuelan diplomatic officials from the embassies of the seven Latin American countries mentioned above, and requested the closure of the diplomatic offices of these countries due to their "interference in Venezuela's internal affairs".

He affirmed that Caracas will “ensure all legal and political actions to force respect, preserve and protect the inalienable right to self-determination” of the South American country, as well as “confront any actions that threaten the atmosphere of peace and coexistence for which the Venezuelan people have worked so hard.”

Venezuela's decision came hours after Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino called for a review of Venezuela's electoral records, saying "too many violations have occurred" in the South American country.

Mr. Mulino also announced that he would sever relations with Venezuela and withdraw all diplomatic staff.
