According to GizChina , with a top-end product at the moment from Apple, the lack of graphics card support on the Mac Pro M2 Ultra really makes many people wonder. Because the lack of a discrete graphics card means that professionals will need to use the internal GPU solution that Apple provides with the M2 Ultra.
Therefore, Apple Hardware Engineering Director John Ternus had to give an explanation for the company's actions.

In the interview, Ternus said that the new model "doesn't need an external graphics card because everything is handled by the M2 Ultra chip." He further explained that the M2 Ultra chip architecture of the new Mac Pro is based on shared memory and optimization, where optimization would be affected if there was external graphics card support - which is not the direction Apple wants to pursue.
The M2 Ultra chip on the Mac Pro is said to be three times faster than the Mac Pro using an Intel CPU when evaluating video transcoding and 3D simulation capabilities. To be exact, the video processing capabilities of the new model are on par with the Intel CPU version with 7 Afterburner cards.
Additionally, a recent report found that the M2 Ultra is nearly as powerful as the RTX 4080, Nvidia's second-fastest graphics card. So when a system already delivers great overall performance, equipping the Mac Pro M2 Ultra with a discrete graphics card seems unnecessary.
Besides not supporting discrete graphics cards, another factor on the Mac Pro M2 Ultra that makes users wonder is the lack of RAM upgradeability. This also stems from the unified nature of the M2 Ultra chip. Compared to Mac Pro models using Intel CPUs, the M2 Ultra CPU model has all components linked together, so Apple has soldered the RAM to the chipset.
