However, the US leader said he did not see any further progress in bilateral relations after Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to China.

President Biden said that on June 19, the US and China agreed to stabilize the relationship and curb the "fierce" competition between the two sides to avoid conflict, but there was no significant breakthrough in the exchange between officials of the two countries.

In addition, appreciating the efforts of the head of the US State Department, Mr. Biden affirmed: "Secretary of State Blinken has done his job very well."

Earlier the same day, during a meeting with Mr. Blinken in Beijing, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Wang Yi clearly stated China's stance on the Indo- Pacific Strategy that the US is promoting.

Mr. Wang Yi said that the Indo- Pacific Strategy essentially “creates competition between major countries and factional confrontation” in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to him, the US has abandoned its open and inclusive policy towards the region, shifting to division, affecting peace and stability in the region, thus going against the general trend towards prosperity and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

Therefore, the Chinese representative said that this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum is an important opportunity for the US to consider adjusting its policy towards the region.

Affirming Beijing's goodwill in working with Washington to find ways to make constructive contributions to the region, Wang Yi also hoped that the US would assume the role of APEC host and work with China to get cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region back on track.
