“In its efforts to build a safe and effective online environment for children, World Vision International in Vietnam always focuses on a child-centered approach. World Vision pays special attention to comprehensive digital literacy education programs so that children can both protect themselves and use the internet creatively. At the same time, they are aware of their proactive role in building a safe and effective internet environment.”
That is the information given by Ms. Phan Thi Kim Lien, Manager of Child Protection and Child Participation Program, World Vision International in Vietnam, at the Workshop "Promoting cooperation to protect children in the online environment", held on November 21 in Hanoi .

The workshop was organized by the Vietnam Child Protection Club on Cyberspace (Vietnam Information Security Association - VNISA) in collaboration with the Department of Information Security ( Ministry of Information and Communications ). The program was accompanied by World Vision International in Vietnam; Save the Children Organization; ChildFund Vietnam; VNPT Information Security Center and the Management and Sustainable Development Institute (MSD).
The workshop took place with 4 presentations and 1 discussion session revolving around the following topics: Strengthening coordination between state agencies and technology organizations and businesses; Child-centered approach in protecting children online; Impact of AI on children online; Technology solutions to support parents and schools in preventing harmful information for children.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Kim Lien, in the context of digital technology developing strongly and becoming an indispensable working and entertainment tool in everyone's daily life, risks to safety, information security, and privacy are also increasing.
For children, these dangers and risks become even more evident when they do not have enough skills to identify and avoid them. These are challenges not only for Vietnam but also for many other countries in the world. Protecting children and enhancing cooperation and connection in cyberspace to protect and empower children are also issues raised globally.

“In Vietnam, 9 out of 10 children use the internet. In an effort to build a safe and effective online environment for children, World Vision International in Vietnam always focuses on a child-centered approach. World Vision pays special attention to comprehensive digital literacy education programs so that children can both protect themselves and use the internet creatively. At the same time, they are aware of their proactive role in building a safe and effective internet environment. World Vision also supports initiatives initiated by children themselves, promoting their participation in contributing to solutions on Child Protection in the online environment,” said Ms. Phan Thi Kim Lien.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Dang Vu Son, Vice President of VNISA, Former Head of the Government Cipher Committee, said that VNISA has been committed to working with state management agencies, international organizations and businesses to implement initiatives to protect children in the online environment. VNISA has organized the contest “Students with Information Security” to raise awareness and skills of students nationwide; established the Vietnam Cyber Child Protection Club (VCSC) to gather and connect resources.

The basic standard TCCS:03/2024-VNISA on “Basic technical requirements for products and services to protect children in the online environment” recently announced by VNISA in June 2024 is an important milestone contributing to promoting the ecosystem of products and services to protect children online. This standard helps users and parents feel more secure in choosing products and services to protect children. At the same time, it promotes the participation of businesses, organizations and a large number of users to join hands in protecting their children from dangers and risks in cyberspace.
“We believe that connection and cooperation are the key to solving challenges and bringing greater efficiency in protecting children in cyberspace. VNISA is committed to continuing its efforts and closely coordinating with domestic and foreign partners to build a truly safe and sustainable cyber environment for the young generation,” said Mr. Dang Vu Son.
