Tanker truck explodes, dozens of people stealing gasoline killed

Liberia A fuel tanker truck has run off the road and exploded in the north-central part of the West African nation, killing at least 40 people.

The tanker truck crashed late on December 26 in Totota, Lower Bong County, veering off the road and overturning. Many people rushed to the scene to collect the spilled gasoline from the tanker.

However, the car exploded shortly afterwards, killing and injuring many people at the scene. "People ran away, but many did not escape the explosion," said a witness.
