VietNamNetVietNamNet28/08/2023

In recent days, on the train street coffee street in Dien Bien ward (Ba Dinh district) and Cua Nam and Hang Bong wards (Hoan Kiem district), the scene of hundreds of tourists flocking to check in despite the danger has recurred, even though this street has been closed for business many times before.

On the afternoon of August 28, Dien Bien Ward Police issued a quick report on this issue. Accordingly, the ward police conducted a basic investigation of households living in the railway area (No. 5 Tran Phu and 10A Dien Bien Phu).

Specifically, on this street there are 19 households on the even-numbered side. Of these, 15 houses have residents, 3 houses are uninhabited, and 1 registered coffee shop has ceased operations since 2017. The households on the odd-numbered side are located in Cua Nam and Hang Bong wards (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ).

However, in Dien Bien ward, there are some households that do not hang signs or register their business but still mix juices and sell them to tourists to sit and take pictures. There are even cases of people collaborating with coffee shops in Cua Nam and Hang Bong wards (Hoan Kiem district) to lend space for customers to sit in front of their houses.

Faced with this situation, Dien Bien ward police have requested local police to organize a commitment for households living in the railway area to strictly comply with the law to ensure safety of railway traffic corridors.

At the same time, this unit will continue to organize and maintain the assignment of guarding at both ends of the Dien Bien Phu and Tran Phu railway crossings from 7am to 7pm. Coordinate with functional units to handle violations against households that violate the railway traffic safety corridor.

It is known that the railway coffee street has long been a check-in point for many tourists coming to the capital. The railway management agency warned that with the average train speed in the area of 30km/h, if a collision occurs, there will be potential for great damage.
