After weeks of continuous negotiations, with times when it seemed like a failure when Man City intervened, Arsenal finally reached a common agreement with West Ham.
The deal was agreed for £100m in cash, with a further £5m option.
Thus, the Declan Rice deal set a record for the most expensive transfer in Arsenal's history as well as for an English player.
The old record for an English player was when Man City took Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100 million.

This is the main reason for the decision to break the transfer record in history to sign Declan Rice, with the ambition of competing for the English football championship.
Previously, the "Gunners" also completed the deal for Kai Havertz from Chelsea to increase attacking depth.
Besides the "blockbuster" Declan Rice, Arsenal also reached an agreement with Ajax on center back Jurrien Timber, just waiting for the official signature.
