That is what made the Thai press admire the victory of Coach Troussier's team. Siam Sport newspaper wrote: "The golden stars are so strong! The Vietnamese team excellently defeated Syria".
Thailand's leading sports daily commented: "The Vietnamese team did very well in winning against Syria, a team ranked higher in the FIFA rankings.
There were doubts when the "Golden Stars" only won 1-0 against Hong Kong (China) but it turned out that they showed great strength in the match against Syria.
Coach Troussier's team affirmed their strength with two victories in the FIFA Days series in March.
