Dr. Do Tan Phuong, Head of the Emergency Department of Children's Hospital 1, said that the patient was admitted to the hospital with facial deformities and complex injuries to the forehead, eyebrows, skin around the eye sockets, under the eye sockets, cheeks, upper lip, and nose; there was a lacerated tongue wound in the mouth.
"The day before being transferred to the hospital, the child had a traffic accident, hitting his face on the road and becoming unconscious. Patient K was given first aid by doctors at lower levels and carefully examined before being transferred to Children's Hospital 1 ," said Dr. Phuong.
Master, Doctor, Doctor Nguyen Thien Phuoc - maxillofacial surgeon at Children's Hospital 1, who directly performed surgery on patient K, said that this was a case of complex fracture of the left cheekbone, fracture of the left maxilla; rupture of the lacrimal canal above and below the left eye; and complex wound (torn, dehisced, missing) on the left side.

This is not a red alert emergency case, but because it is a minor and seriously affects the facial aesthetics, the doctors performed the surgery according to the red alert procedure. In addition, they also used cosmetic suturing techniques to try to restore the best aesthetics for patient K.
"Currently, patient K's health is stable. This week, the patient can be discharged from the hospital. In addition, this is also a warning bell for parents when letting their children drive when they are not qualified to participate in traffic. Children are not old enough and cannot control their speed, so they can easily cause accidents, leaving mental and physical consequences for the children themselves ," said Dr. Phuoc.
