On the afternoon of November 14, Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision to approve the position of Secretary of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee. Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee Le Minh Hung attended and chaired the conference.
At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Phan Thang An announced the Politburo 's decision to approve the position of Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term for Mr. Tran Huy Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, on November 6, Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and a meeting of the Provincial Party Executive Committee to elect the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term for cadres introduced by the Politburo.
As a result, with the absolute vote of confidence of 100% of the delegates present, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan was elected by the Provincial Party Executive Committee to hold the position of Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Mr. Tran Huy Tuan was born in 1974, Tay ethnic group, from Van Yen district, Yen Bai province. He has a degree in irrigation engineering, a bachelor's degree in political economics, a master's degree in natural resources and environmental economics; and a senior degree in political theory.
During his time working in Yen Bai province, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan held the following positions: Deputy Head and then Head of the Board of Management of Investment Projects and Construction of Irrigation Works, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Chief and then Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Van Yen District Party Committee, Chairman of the Van Yen District People's Council, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
On October 2, 2020, the People's Council of Yen Bai province elected Mr. Tran Huy Tuan to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term. In June 2021, he was re-elected as Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
