According to the latest information from Vietnamese representative agencies in the Middle East, Vietnamese citizens are still safe.
On the afternoon of October 17, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions about citizen protection in the face of the conflict between Iran and Israel, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said:
According to the latest information from Vietnamese representative agencies in the Middle East, Vietnamese citizens are still safe.
Vietnamese representative agencies in the region have continuously updated the people with new information and warned them to closely monitor the situation, pay attention to their movements, and proactively move to subway stations for shelter in case of emergency.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, to date, there are over 700 Vietnamese citizens in Israel, 13 Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon and 8 Vietnamese citizens in Iran.
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in the Middle East continue to closely coordinate with local authorities and community leaders to update the situation, proactively and regularly visit and encourage the Vietnamese community in conflict areas. In addition, plans are being prepared to protect and evacuate citizens if necessary.
* Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions about two Vietnamese citizens missing while fishing in Japan, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said she had just received information about the incident.
Accordingly, on the evening of October 12, 4 Vietnamese citizens were swept away by waves while fishing in the sea area of Kamisu city, Ibaraki province (Eastern province of Japan).
Japanese authorities have found two people in stable health condition and are working to search for the remaining missing people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed Vietnamese representative agencies in Japan to urgently coordinate with local authorities to investigate the incident, verify the identities, and support search and rescue efforts for the victims.
* Responding to a reporter's question about a recent decision by a Thai court to extradite terrorist Y Quynh Bdap to Vietnam, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that this decision is appropriate, ensuring that all criminals are handled according to the law.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, Y Quynh Bdap was the subject who directly recruited, incited and directed the terrorist attack in Dak Lak province on June 11, 2023, causing particularly serious consequences.
This subject was tried by the People's Court of Dak Lak province and sentenced to 10 years in prison for terrorism.
“The extradition of Y Quynh Bdap to Vietnam is appropriate, ensuring that all criminals are prosecuted before the law. Vietnamese authorities will continue to coordinate with Thai authorities to handle the case in accordance with the laws of the two countries,” said Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.
