In the first months of 2022, US investors mainly committed to investing in new projects, accounting for 70% of registered capital. However, in 2023, more than 59% of registered capital was for expansion of existing projects. This shows the confidence of investors in implementing projects in Vietnam.
The US invests in most sectors of the Vietnamese economy , but focuses mainly on the accommodation and restaurant services sector, with registered capital of 4.46 billion USD, accounting for nearly 38% of the total registered investment capital of the US in Vietnam.
Regarding investment trends, some of the current priority areas of US investors are financial investment, business services, logistics, hotels, tourism , real estate, corporate real estate, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, essential minerals, etc.
However, to attract American businesses, at least two factors are needed: First, a stable and friendly political environment; Second, American investors will find it more favorable if there are already American investors in other fields.
In other words, they "like" to have an investment ecosystem. This ecosystem does not necessarily cover a province or locality, but can link neighboring localities. Therefore, localities should coordinate to maximize their strengths.
