Quang Nam Cam Thanh Commune, Hoi An City, banned karaoke singing for tourists visiting the coconut forest to avoid noise pollution.

On November 20, Cam Thanh commune authorities launched an inspection to inspect the implementation of the regulation banning karaoke singing at the Bay Mau coconut forest tourist site, also known as Cam Thanh. The move came after Cam Thanh commune issued a document announcing the rectification of tourism activities at this historical and cultural relic site of the coconut forest.

The commune authorities have banned all forms of karaoke singing on the river to serve tourists visiting the Bay Mau coconut forest tourist site. This is to ensure safety of inland waterway traffic, not cause noise pollution, affect the lives and activities of surrounding households, and contribute to building this place into a green and sustainable tourist destination.

The commune requested that businesses and households that host guests at home using sound systems must comply with national technical regulations on noise. From November 20, individuals, businesses and enterprises that violate the law will be handled according to the law and the violating objects and means will be confiscated.

In Cam Thanh coconut forest, karaoke has been used with loud speakers for a long time, causing noise. Tourists and locals have repeatedly reported to the authorities about the use of loud karaoke speakers and "messy" music.

Cam Thanh coconut forest is about 3 km southeast of Hoi An ancient town. This place is considered a "Southern region in the heart of Hoi An" with riverside swamps and many streams with growing water coconut trees. Initially, the coconut forest only had an area of about 7 acres, so people often called it Bay Mau coconut forest. After many years of development, the coconut forest has more than 100 hectares, protected to serve tourists.

In September 2009, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province recognized Bay Mau coconut forest as a tourist destination. This place is both a historical and cultural relic site and a buffer zone of the Cu Lao Cham world biosphere reserve. The coconut forest has since become an attractive destination on the local tourist map.

Every day, the coconut forest welcomes thousands of visitors, the entrance fee is 150,000 VND per person, of which the entrance fee is 30,000 VND; the basket boat service is 120,000 VND. Visitors can join tours; individual visitors can buy tickets on the spot. The tour service operates from morning until evening.
