President Vo Van Thuong receives Italian Ambassador

On the morning of August 2, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received Ambassador of the Republic of Italy Antonio Alessandro to bid farewell at the end of his term in Vietnam.

Pleased to meet Ambassador Antonio Alessandro again after successfully concluding his state visit to the Republic of Italy, President Vo Van Thuong thanked and appreciated the Ambassador for coordinating with Vietnamese authorities to prepare carefully, contributing to the success of the visit. This is also a highlight of the Ambassador's term of office in Vietnam. The President expressed his impression and gratitude for the warm, thoughtful and respectful reception that President Sergio Mattarella, the leaders and people of Italy gave to the President, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

Ambassador Antonio Alessandro respectfully thanked President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to meet him, congratulated him on the success of the President's State visit to Italy, and expressed his honor to participate in the preparations for the visit.

Emphasizing that this visit has created an important mark and is a turning point for the relationship between the two countries, Ambassador Antonio Alessandro said that Italian President Sergio Mattarella was very impressed with the results of the talks and meetings with President Vo Van Thuong in Italy as well as the dynamic development of Vietnam.

Ambassador Antonio Alessandro thanked the Vietnamese authorities for their coordination and support in helping the Ambassador successfully complete his duties, contributing to promoting relations between the two countries.

President Vo Van Thuong said that the achievements in the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Italy were highlighted and emphasized many times during the talks and meetings between the leaders of the two countries within the framework of the visit.

The President said that despite taking up his duties in Vietnam during a difficult time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ambassador’s efforts have contributed to maintaining the cooperative and close relationship between the two countries, supporting each other to overcome difficulties and continue to achieve good results. Through the difficulties, Vietnam and Italy have further affirmed their sincere friendship for each other.

President Vo Van Thuong reiterated the invitation and wished to soon welcome President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella to visit Vietnam.

On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong awarded and pinned the Friendship Medal to Ambassador Antonio Alessandro.
