On the occasion of attending the 44th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the afternoon of August 7, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane expressed their joy at meeting again on the occasion of attending the 44th AIPA General Assembly.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the Lao National Assembly on successfully completing its 5th session, deciding on many important issues, and receiving strong support from the Lao people; and congratulated Laos on its positive socio-economic achievements in recent times.

The two leaders were pleased with the increasingly deep friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, with close cooperation on all channels and levels, especially the Party channel, from the central to local levels and in all fields, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability, security and defense, and socio-economic development in each country.

The two sides agreed to continue to increase delegation exchanges at all levels; promote bilateral cooperation mechanisms, enhance connectivity between the two economies, implement investment and trade cooperation agreements; and actively implement important strategic cooperation projects. The two sides agreed to promote cooperation in agricultural processing and jointly study and implement specific projects.

The two National Assembly Chairmen agreed that the two countries' National Assemblies need to continue to closely cooperate to effectively implement regular cooperation mechanisms, human resource training, enhance information exchange, continue to enhance experience sharing, and coordinate with each other in law-making, supervision, and decision-making on important national issues.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate to organize the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Summit in Laos in December 2023 as well as AIPA 2024 chaired by Laos to achieve good results.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue invited the Lao National Assembly to send a delegation to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians to be held in Hanoi next September.
