In Bac Ninh province, implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the provincial Confederation of Labor issued a document to thoroughly grasp the tasks and guide the implementation to the grassroots trade unions. Accordingly, the requirement is to ensure shift meals at a higher cost than usual through the support of the trade union organization and funding from the employer; to perform well the work of food safety and hygiene; to be suitable to the actual conditions of the unit, enterprise and not to affect production and business activities.
"Union Meal" program at Cedo Vietnam Limited Liability Company. |
Surveys in many enterprises show that grassroots unions have proactively and actively advised leaders to effectively organize the program "Union Meal". For example, at the Union of GU Vina Limited Liability Company, Viet Tien Industrial Park, recently, more than 2,200 union members and workers were supported with meals worth 70,000 VND (an increase of 50,000 VND compared to the daily value). The menu has many delicious dishes such as: Roasted quail, sweet and sour ribs, stir-fried chicken with mushrooms, rice, soup, fruit for dessert, and soft drinks. All organization costs are drawn from the grassroots union's financial resources. At Cedo Vietnam Limited Liability Company, Dai Dong Industrial Park, the grassroots union has just coordinated with the enterprise to organize the program "Union Meal - Cedo Family Meal". Here, more than 1,300 union members were supported with meals worth nearly 100,000 VND. The funding is sponsored by the company's board of directors and the union. Accordingly, in addition to rice and fruit for dessert, the meal menu is diverse with dishes such as: boiled chicken, steamed shrimp, beef stew...
In the coming time, in addition to promoting the maintenance of "Union Meals", trade unions at all levels will continue to propagate and raise awareness so that business owners pay attention to improving shift meals for workers. Strengthen training and improve the qualifications of trade union officials, especially those at the grassroots level, to effectively organize periodic dialogue activities with business leaders, and include shift meals in collective labor agreements. Pay more attention to inspection and supervision to ensure food safety and hygiene and shift meal quality, continuing to affirm the responsibility of trade union organizations in caring for union members and workers.
