On the afternoon of January 12, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) informed about the results of patrolling, controlling and handling traffic violations on National Highway 1, the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the representative of PC08 Department, on the first day of the peak period to ensure traffic order and safety during the Tet holiday and the early spring festivals of 2024, on National Highway 1, the Traffic Police inspected a total of 1,518 vehicles, including: 294 passenger cars, 603 trucks, 140 cars, 112 container trucks, 367 motorbikes, and 2 other vehicles.

Traffic police recorded 209 cases, including 52 motorbike drivers violating alcohol concentration.

Traffic police temporarily revoked the driving licenses of 19 drivers and detained 67 vehicles (4 cars, 63 motorbikes).

Previously, at a regular press conference on the socio -economic situation held on January 11, Lieutenant Colonel Le Manh Ha, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Staff Department, said that in 2023, the police force detected and handled more than 651,000 traffic violations, temporarily detained more than 1,500 cars, more than 153,000 motorbikes and more than 1,200 3-wheel and 4-wheel vehicles. Of which, more than 128,000 vehicles were temporarily detained due to alcohol concentration violations, accounting for nearly 20%.

During peak periods of checking and handling alcohol violations, the number of vehicles impounded in the area has increased. In particular, many violators do not come to work with the authorities or pay the fine due to the low value of their vehicles.
