At around 9:00 a.m., 10 Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters, 6 Yak-130 training fighter jets, and 7 Su-30MK2 fighters took off from Bien Hoa airport ( Dong Nai ) toward Ho Chi Minh City's sky.
Each group flies about 3-5 minutes apart, helicopters in a 3-4-3 formation, each group has 3-4 fighters, the first group is 1-2km away from the next group.
This is the second practice session of the Vietnam Air Force in preparation for the performance at the 50th Anniversary of National Reunification (April 30).
10 helicopters practice flying in formation one after another. The pilots have to calculate the distance and position to make it balanced and beautiful.
Inside the cockpit of the Mi-8 helicopter, to maintain position while flying, the pilots must coordinate operations and communicate with ground forces.
