Nguyen Thi Oanh makes her mark at Viettel Marathon 2024
Angkor Wat is the final stop of the 3 stages of the Viettel Marathon 2024 (the previous 2 stages took place in Laos and Vietnam). 9,000 athletes competed in the final stage, creating an exciting and competitive atmosphere in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat.

Although not bringing a strong force to the tournament, Vietnamese athletics with big names affirmed their strength when winning the advanced events: 42 km for men by Nguyen Van Lai, 42 km for women by Pham Thi Hong Le, 21 km for men by Nguyen Trung Cuong, 21 km for women by "Queen of Vietnamese athletics" Nguyen Thi Oanh.

In addition to the professional appeal of the advanced level, Viettel Marathon 2024 Angkor Wat, Cambodia has received the attention and welcome of the running community. The closing of Angkor Wat marks the success of Viettel Marathon 2024 in its first organization.
The first stage took place in Luang Prabang (Laos) attracting about 5,000 athletes. The Hanoi stage (Vietnam) exploded in the number of athletes registering to participate with 10,000 people. The professional highlight through 3 stages was athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh breaking the national record for the 42 km distance in the Hanoi stage with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes 49 seconds (the old record was 2 hours 44 minutes 20 seconds).
Pham Thi Hong Le won the 42 km category for women.
Viettel Marathon 2024 is not only a normal sporting event, but also an opportunity for athletes to learn about the culture and life of local people as well as strengthen solidarity and friendship between the three Indochinese countries. The running routes of all three stages of Viettel Marathon are of international standards, with a total prize of up to 150,000 USD with many diverse and attractive prize categories.
