Accompanying women in the border areas, helping 1,324 households in Dak Nong escape poverty

TPO - Over the past 5 years, the program "Accompanying women in the border areas" has built and repaired 80 shelters, awarded 9,576 scholarships to poor children, supported 51 livelihoods and helped 1,324 women's households escape poverty.

On June 18, the Dak Nong Provincial Border Guard Command and the Provincial Women's Union held a summary of the Program "Accompanying women in border areas" for the period 2021-2025.

Over the past 5 years, the program has connected to build and repair 80 charity houses worth 4.4 billion VND; awarded 9,576 scholarships and gifts to poor children overcoming difficulties worth over 3.3 billion VND; supported 51 livelihoods worth 503 million VND; helped 1,324 households with women escape poverty and near-poverty.

Many women in border areas are supported by livelihood models to escape poverty.

The association at all levels has deployed the construction of hundreds of flower roads, bright - green - clean - beautiful roads; carried out 190 projects and tasks to participate in the construction of new rural areas.

The Border Guard Command coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union to organize 3 programs "Border Spring - Warming the hearts of the villagers", presenting nearly 14,000 gifts, scholarships and livelihoods to members, women, students and people in difficult circumstances, with a total value of over 6 billion VND.

Since 2021, the "Godmother" program has sponsored 335 orphans with a total amount of over 8.2 billion VND and built 5 "Happy Houses" worth 460 million VND.

Women in difficult border areas are given livelihood models.

Ms. Ha Thi Hanh, Chairwoman of the Dak Nong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, acknowledged the effective coordination between the Border Guard Command and the Women's Union in the Program "Accompanying women in the border areas" for the period 2021-2025.

Ms. Hanh hopes that units and members will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity to build a developed community of women in the border areas.

On this occasion, the Emulation Cluster of the Women's Union of the Central Coast and Central Highlands provinces, together with the Provincial Women's Union and the Dak Nong Border Guard Command, presented 7 livelihood models worth 10 million VND/model to disadvantaged border women members.

The Provincial Women's Union also commended outstanding collectives and individuals in the Program "Accompanying women in the border areas" for the period 2021-2025.
