Nearly 60 billion VND to develop waterway tourism in Hau Giang

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee, has just signed and issued a plan to develop waterway tourism in Hau Giang province.

The purpose of developing this tourism model is to effectively implement the objectives of Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU dated November 26, 2021 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on industrial, agricultural , urban and tourism development of Hau Giang province for the period 2021 - 2025 and the following years.

Exploit and promote the advantages of the river and canal system in the province to build and develop waterway tourism products, provide the market with new tourism products, and enhance the experience for visitors when coming to Hau Giang.

Focus on exploiting the potential and strengths of waterway tourism, forming services, creating attractive tourism products, attracting and meeting the needs of domestic and foreign tourists when coming to Hau Giang province.

Building intra-provincial and inter-provincial tourism routes; investing in infrastructure, services, and destinations on inland waterway tourism routes, contributing to preserving and promoting cultural and historical values to serve tourism development, creating jobs and income for local people.

Objective: Focus on exploiting the potential and strengths of waterway tourism, forming services, creating attractive tourism products, attracting and meeting the needs of domestic and foreign tourists when coming to Hau Giang province.

By 2024, strive to exploit waterway tourism on Xa No canal; invest in building a wharf; a passenger wharf on Cai Con river connected to Nga Bay floating market; develop 2 cruise ships to serve tourists.

Strive for the period 2025 - 2030: Build 2 wharves on Xa No canal and along Hau river, form a fleet of boats to serve tourists on waterway tourism routes; link waterway tourism routes with neighboring provinces and cities such as: Can Tho, Soc Trang, Kien Giang...

The total expected capital for implementation is nearly 60 billion VND from the state budget, socialized sources and other legal funding sources.
