Korean golfer beats wind to take top spot at WAAP Championship

In strong windy conditions, 18-year-old Korean golfer Sumin-hong showed impressive form, completing round 2 with a score of 67 (-4) on the course of Hoiana Shores Golf Club.

"I'm very happy and satisfied with my performance today. I kept my patience and focus. Even though I'm leading, I try not to think too much about the final result. I want to enjoy every moment with my friends and teammates," Hong shared.

18-year-old Korean golfer Sumin-hong

Finishing 36 holes with 132 strokes (-10 points), Sumin-hong had a two-stroke advantage over second place (-8) including Jeneath Wong (Malaysia) and Jazy Roberts (Australia), who benefited from starting in the morning in more favorable weather.

Golfer Soomin-oh, currently ranked 9th on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), finished in 4th place with 135 strokes after a tumultuous second round. This round, Oh shot 67 strokes (-4), recorded 8 birdies but 4 bogeys.

Soomin-oh is in 4th place.

Jieen Lin (Taiwan) ranked 5th with 136 strokes, while Lion Higo of Australia held the 6th position (137 strokes) with 2 Korean golfers Seo Jin-park and Yun Seo-yang. In the second round results, Yun was the most impressive with a 66 stroke and was the only face without a bogey.

Among the 4 golfers ranked 9th (138 strokes) is Seo Jin-park (Korea), who led after the opening round with 64 strokes but in the second round shot 74 strokes.

Golfer Le Chuc An of Vietnam

Meanwhile, Le Chuc An made an impressive comeback to continue to be the Vietnamese golfer with the best results at this tournament. She had two double-bogeys in the first half of the round, but made birdies at holes 13 and 14 to complete the round with 76 strokes. "My goal was to pass the cut, and I did it," said Chuc An, ranked 30th (143 strokes).

However, the remaining 5 Vietnamese golfers could not pass the cut line and gained valuable experiences for their golf careers.
