According to AVP, on the night of February 16, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out large-scale missile attacks on many military infrastructure facilities on the territory of Ukraine, especially in the Kharkov and Poltava regions. This information was made public by both Russian war correspondents and Ukrainian sources.

The first reports of the attacks began to emerge at around 1 a.m. Moscow time, with missiles flying over the Sumy region towards the Poltava region. Shortly afterwards, explosions were reported in the city of Mirgorod, which is home to a major airport used by the Ukrainian Air Force. The airport was likely the target of the missile strike, which was intended to destroy aircraft, ammunition depots and airport infrastructure.

Then, at around 2 a.m., reports of missiles heading towards the Kharkiv region emerged. Explosion reports indicated that the city of Lyubotin had been hit. Lyubotin is also home to an airport used by the Ukrainian air force.

Explosions were also recorded in Volchansk and Liptsy, Kharkov region, where there are military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and possibly foreign mercenaries.

Also on February 16, information about Russia launching a large-scale operation in Zaporozhye appeared.

According to Ukrainian media, the representative of the Tavria Armed Forces (Ukraine), Dmitry Likhovy, stated in a television program that Russian forces have concentrated a significant group in the Rabotino and Orekhovo areas in the Zaporozhye direction. This information suggests that Russian forces may begin a new operation in the area where Ukrainian forces attempted to counterattack but failed last summer.

Mr. Likhovy emphasized that the number of Russian troops in the Orekhovsky direction is larger than the number of troops participating in the operation in Avdeevka. According to him, the concentration of a large number of Russian troops in this direction shows Russia's determination.

In addition, it is mentioned that the withdrawal of Ukrainian units from Avdiivka has led to a reduction in the defense capabilities of the southern flank of the city. As a result, Russia has taken control of the Zenit fortified area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces were also forced to leave the Donetsk filtration station and the Cheburashka fortified area east of Avdievka.

Also in the Zaporozhie region, three days ago (February 14), the Russian military shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter near the village of Rabotino. This information was confirmed when images of the incident were made public.

Accordingly, the Ukrainian Air Force helicopter was destroyed by a Russian anti-tank missile. The Mi-8 was ambushed by soldiers of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 58th Army Corps of the Southern Military District.

According to reports from the front, Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters were constantly seen in the Rabotino area. They operated at low altitude and managed to escape Russian attacks several times. However, on February 14, the aircraft was destroyed by Russian forces using Kornet anti-tank missiles.
