Hundreds of people joined forces to put out the forest fire.

On the evening of April 30, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District, Trinh Van Nha, informed that the forest fire that occurred in Thanh Khai Commune has been basically controlled. Currently, forces are strengthening the forest fire fighting in Nam Thai Commune and Nam Dan Town, Nam Dan District.

After discovering the fire, authorities deployed fire prevention and fighting plans, but as of 9:00 p.m. on April 30, the fire had not yet been controlled and extinguished.

"The forest that burned in Thanh Khai commune is poor forest, the burned area is mostly reeds, weeds... so far it has been basically controlled", said the Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee.

Earlier on the morning of April 30, a fire broke out at Dun Mountain, Thanh Phong Hamlet, Thanh Khai Commune. After being discovered, local authorities mobilized hundreds of personnel to put out the fire. They also created firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading.

Firefighters tried to control the fire in extremely difficult conditions, with scorching sun above 40°C and strong Foehn Lao winds.

Due to the hot weather above 40°C, the strong southwest wind caused the fire to flare up fiercely. From Dun mountain, the fire spread to the forest area of Nam Thai commune and Nam Dan town in Nam Dan district.

At 9:00 p.m. on April 30, the fire prevention and fighting forces of Nghe An Police, Nam Dan District, Nam Thai Commune, Nam Dan Town and local people tried to put out the fire. But the fire still broke out, a large area of forest was still burning in the middle of the night.

Currently, there are no statistics on the extent of damage, the type of forest damaged, or the cause of the fire.
