On June 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives - Saigon Co.op, organized the event "Continuing Pride - Origin of Happiness" to continue the 35-year journey of bringing happiness to Vietnamese families, and at the same time welcome the milestone of the purely Vietnamese supermarket system Co.opmart turning 30 years old in establishment and development.

In 1989, from the Ho Chi Minh City Trading Cooperative, Saigon Co.op has now successfully developed nearly 1,000 points of sale in a variety of modern commercial segments, including a system of convenience stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets, shopping malls and e-commerce.

In particular, the Co.opmart supermarket model, first established in 1996 by Saigon Co.op, is considered the first purely Vietnamese modern retail platform in Vietnam. Co.opmart has become a close and familiar symbol that has contributed to affirming the position of Vietnamese goods in the modern retail market, serving the practical needs of Vietnamese consumers with quality, dedication and Vietnamese identity values. After more than 30 years, the Co.opmart system now has more than 120 supermarkets nationwide with an average turnover of more than 30,000 billion VND per year.

According to Mr. Vu Anh Khoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Co.op, the unit is always steadfast in its mission as a cooperative enterprise for the community. E-commerce and logistics are the compass for development

Mr. Vu Anh Khoa emphasized that Saigon Co.op identified e-commerce and logistics as the guiding principles of its development strategy in 2025. Specifically, Saigon Co.op officially launched the new e-commerce platform Co.op Online, an important strategic step in the digital age. This is a milestone in realizing the orientation of "innovation, optimization of operations and digitalization" with the goal of enhancing the shopping experience and effectively reaching a variety of customers.

The new e-commerce platform offers a seamless experience between the website and mobile app, integrates AI assistant in customer care, and integrates Saigon Co.op membership card allowing convenient registration, points accumulation, and rewards redemption right within the app.

In particular, the application of technology to the online operation process is optimized at each point of sale, helping to process orders quickly and significantly shorten delivery time. In particular, Co.op Online is positioned as a comprehensive digital commerce platform, serving from individual customers to businesses and will gradually develop into an e-commerce platform for Vietnamese goods. This birth affirms Saigon Co.op's long-term commitment to digital transformation of the retail industry, accompanying the shopping journey of Vietnamese people with a focus on customers, partners and the community.

Within the framework of the "Continuing Pride - Origin of Happiness" series of activities, Saigon Co.op has implemented the "Journey of Happiness 2025" program in the form of a cross-Vietnam bus trip, from April 24 to May 31. On the way from North to South, the journey stopped at 50 stations, attracting customers to check in and take pictures with the Vietnamese national flag.

This activity is also held simultaneously online to strongly spread the love for the homeland. On the "Journey of Happiness" route, the Co.opmart system organizes promotional programs for local regional products, events connecting with raw materials, trade promotion and exhibition of OCOP products.

At the event, Saigon Co.op was also awarded a certificate of record for "Online Vietnam Map made from 50,000 happy smiles with the national flag" from partners and customers participating in "Happiness Journey 2025". For each happy photo recorded, Saigon Co.op donated 5,000 VND to carry out social projects on the Co.op Cares community activity platform.
