Citybus, a bus operator in Hong Kong, said it has also tested hydrogen charging stations for this new bus line. According to Citybus, when the hydrogen fuel runs out, the bus can be recharged in just 10 minutes.

The buses and charging stations are expected to be put into use as early as January 2024. Hydrogen-powered buses are also known as “special air purifiers” because they are a means of transport that does not emit pollutants and can filter fine dust. Hydrogen is also becoming a potential energy source for the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.

Hong Kong is stepping up efforts to develop a green transport sector and plans to develop a hydrogen energy strategy by 2024. By 2045, Citybus plans to replace all diesel buses with zero-emission buses.
