The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said the government plans to announce its commitment to establishing the Nuclear Energy Program Implementation Authority (NEPIO).
The agency will oversee and accelerate the development of nuclear energy as a national energy source. NEPIO will be headed by the President, while the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources will be responsible for day-to-day operations. NEPIO will primarily be limited to research and oversight of nuclear energy development.
In the country's National Electricity Generation Master Plan (RUKN), it is expected that by 2032, 250 megawatts of nuclear power will be connected to the national grid.
