"Today, I will send a sharp message to Ireland and Norway: We will not ignore this issue in silence. I have just asked to recall our ambassadors from Dublin and Oslo for further consultations," Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement , according to AFP news agency.

Earlier the same day, speaking at a press conference, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said that the country will recognize the State of Palestine starting from May 28.

According to AFP, other countries including Ireland and Spain also held press conferences on May 22 to announce their decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

Last month, Spain and Ireland, long-time champions of Palestinian rights, along with Malta and Slovenia, announced that they would work towards recognizing the State of Palestine.

These efforts come amid escalating conflict between Israel and the Hamas Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip, prompting international calls for a ceasefire and a lasting solution for peace in the region.

Previously, the US and many other countries in Western Europe said they were ready to recognize the State of Palestine at some point in the future, but required reaching an agreement on core issues such as the final borders and the future status of Jerusalem.

On the evening of May 10 (local time) at the United Nations headquarters in New York (USA), the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling on the Security Council to consider supporting Palestine to become an official member of the world's largest multilateral organization.

The two-state solution is the idea of establishing two separate states, one for the Israelis and one for the Palestinians. The concept predates the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, when the British mandate over Palestine ended. However, violence and war in the decades that followed have thwarted this effort.

In the Oslo Accords negotiated by the United States in 1993, Israel accepted the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the representative of the Palestinian people, while the PLO recognized Israel's right to peaceful existence. Both sides agreed that the Palestinian Authority would be responsible for administering the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, bringing hope for a roadmap to realizing the two-state model.

Today, most supporters of the two-state solution believe that Israel should return its borders with Palestine to where they were before the 1967 Six-Day War.
