According to initial information, the watercraft HN-2076 carrying sand from Phu Tho was going downstream and sank near bridge pier number 11.

"The incident happened at around 10am this morning (June 26). At that time, the ship was carrying about 500 cubic metres of sand. Due to a storm, the ship owner entered this port to avoid the storm and go to the market to buy food. When turning back, due to water pressure, the ship lost control, water flooded into the bow, causing the bow to gradually sink, then the ship capsized and drifted freely on the river," said a leader of Vinh Thinh commune.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the authorities and relevant units organized rescue and placed warnings to ensure safe traffic.

At the time of the accident, there were three people on board, all of whom were rescued by authorities.

The incident is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
