Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động01/09/2024

When Gia Huy was in 6th grade, his father was diagnosed with lung cancer. The whole family borrowed money everywhere to pay for his treatment, but he did not survive. Feeling sorry for his mother's hardships, Huy tried hard to study, was an excellent student for many years, excelling in literature with many awards. Huy released his emotions by confiding in himself to be calmer and more courageous. He said: "We don't always have someone to accompany us. If I have something difficult to express, I read books and pour my heart out on paper. I feel the vivid words penetrate my heart like a mother's gentle arms soothing my soul." Literature is his confidant, his forte. In the 2023 national high school exam, Gia Huy scored 9.5 points in literature. The total score for block C19 was 28.5 and block C00 was 27. Respecting the traditional culture of the nation, loving poetry and the Vietnamese language, Huy passionately copied each line of poetry and quoted impressively through calligraphy. He won first prize in the 2020 Vietnamese Handwriting Soul Beauty Contest and was the champion of the 2021 School Youth Leader Contest in Ben Tre province.

Gia Huy (fourth from right) realizes the precious meaning of life to choose a positive attitude, constantly set goals and strive wholeheartedly.

With good academic results, the university door was wide open for Huy, but he made a surprising decision to temporarily stop studying to focus on accumulating finances because he loved his elderly mother and young brother. Huy said he wanted to be independent because he did not want to burden his relatives. In October 2023, he officially started a business with a plaster statue workshop after carefully studying the market's needs. Before that, he spent a long time teaching calligraphy and elementary school to children; then opened a milk tea shop. From the initial savings, with a sharp mind, Gia Huy invested in serious, long-term business. The workshop operated well, providing statues of all sizes and designs to many provinces and cities; bringing income to Huy's family and creating jobs for local workers. Huy's efforts to escape poverty have inspired many young people. He still persistently self-study to improve his knowledge and actively participate in social activities. In the near future, when the economy is more stable, Gia Huy will return to school through distance learning.
