(Dan Tri) - The Chairman of the Inspection Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee has just directed the Inspection Committee of Giang Thanh District Party Committee to investigate the asset declaration of the Vice Chairman of the district who gave his daughter 600 hectares of land, causing a stir in public opinion.
On November 13, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Pham Hoang Nam, Chairman of the Inspection Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, has just directed the Inspection Committee of Giang Thanh District Party Committee to investigate the information that the Vice Chairman of Giang Thanh District gave his daughter 600 hectares of land on her wedding day, causing a stir in public opinion.
The inspection will include declaration of assets, land and comparison with the annual asset declaration records of this district vice chairman.

According to Mr. Nam, Mr. Bui Van Men - Vice Chairman of Giang Thanh District People's Committee - is an official under the management of the Standing Committee of Giang Thanh District Party Committee. The inspection and comparison of assets will be the responsibility of the Standing Committee of Giang Thanh District Party Committee and will be reported to the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee.
"The Provincial Party Committee has asked Giang Thanh District Party Committee to check and report back," Mr. Nam informed.
As Dan Tri reported, a clip of the daughter of a vice chairman of the People's Committee of a district in Kien Giang province being given a dowry of 600 hectares of land worth 90 billion VND was spread on social networks, attracting public attention.
Mr. Bui Van Men - Vice Chairman of Giang Thanh District People's Committee - said that the clip was recorded at his daughter's engagement ceremony held half a month ago. However, according to him, his wife "misread" 60 hectares of land as 600 hectares of land.
"My wife mistakenly said 6 hectares were 600 hectares of land. Rice fields are only about 100 million VND/hectare, the actual total value of the land is about 8-9 billion VND," said Mr. Men.
According to Mr. Men, after his wife made a mistake, he corrected the matter with the officials of both families and explained the matter to the authorities.
According to the Vice Chairman of Giang Thanh district, this land was left to him and his wife from the time his grandparents reclaimed the land. His assets are still declared according to regulations every year.
