At the workshop "Creating a new vision in a changing world " recently organized by the International Training Institute (ISB.IEI) in collaboration with VietSuccess, profound management experiences and philosophies were shared by Mr. Vo Quang Hue - Chairman of FoundryAI Vietnam and Ms. Nguyen Tam Trang - General Director of Human Resources of GreenFeed Group.
Sharing about the art of decision making, Mr. Vo Quang Hue - who has held leadership positions at Bosch, VinFast and is currently FoundryAI, said that every decision is based on two important foundations: input data information and intuition.
In today’s information-saturated world, training in the use of AI and modern equipment to obtain quality data is key. However, data is only part of the story.
Intuition, according to Mr. Hue, is not a feeling but a product of many years of training. The important thing is to have unchanging principles as a foundation - core values that do not change regardless of any fluctuations.
Discussing corporate culture, Ms. Nguyen Tam Trang pointed out a common mistake. Culture is not a slogan hanging on the wall, but must be "realized through specific mechanisms, policies, technologies and processes". The pioneering and exemplary role of the leadership team is the decisive factor in the success or failure of building and maintaining corporate culture.
Adding to this point of view, Mr. Vo Quang Hue shared BMW's experience in creating a culture of innovation. When there is a mechanism to reward every innovation, no matter how small, a business can unleash the creativity of tens of thousands of employees. This creates a culture where each employee is considered a "general in the work they are doing", taking ownership of their work rather than simply working for someone else.
In an era that demands flexibility, Ms. Tam Trang introduces a modern human resources concept: "borrow".
"Businesses need to leverage the capabilities of the entire ecosystem. For new areas that cannot be built immediately, we can 'borrow' through strategic cooperation and a network of consultants. This concept can even be applied internally," Ms. Trang suggested.
For example, according to Ms. Trang, it is possible to "borrow 20% of your marketing capacity to do employer branding". This shows the flexibility in transferring resources between departments. Small and medium-sized enterprises often have an advantage in this thanks to their lean structure and ability to adapt quickly.
Although he highly appreciated the intelligence and acumen of the Vietnamese people, Mr. Vo Quang Hue frankly pointed out a fact worth pondering: the number of internationally recognized patents of Vietnam is still very limited.
Currently, Vietnam’s education system has not yet fully unleashed its creative potential. Vietnamese people are always eager to do new things, but education has not yet created a solid launching pad.
Therefore, to create real innovation, we need an environment that encourages critical thinking, open discussion and acceptance of experimentation and failure. The role of research and development (R&D) activities in universities and businesses is the key to the country's innovative future.
Sending a common message to business leaders, the two speakers said that leaders must manage themselves before leading others, must determine what is the "compass" of direction and what is the "anchor" of value. Having a long-term vision, the courage to change and constantly learning to adapt to the changing world are really necessary for business leaders, especially young leaders.
