Spreading family values, culture, and sports in prisoner education at Thanh Lam Prison

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of June 20, at Thanh Lam Prison - Sub-camp No. 2, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province coordinated with Thanh Lam Prison to organize the opening of a training and communication conference on the role and value of family for prisoners; at the same time, deploy a series of cultural, artistic and sports activities for officers, soldiers and prisoners being reformed at the unit.

The conference was held at Thanh Lam Prison - Sub-camp No. 2.

The program is one of the key contents in the 2025 plan of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on organizing cultural and sports activities in the prison system in the province. The goal is to contribute to supporting the education and rehabilitation of prisoners through spreading positive values of culture, sports and family - an important foundation to help prisoners reintegrate into the community effectively and sustainably.

Attending the program were representatives of Thanh Lam Prison leadership, lecturers from the National Academy of Public Administration, leaders of specialized departments under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and more than 200 prisoners representing more than 700 prisoners at Sub-camp No. 2.

Representatives of Thanh Lam Prison emphasized the role of culture, sports and family in educating prisoners.

Speaking at the conference, a representative of Thanh Lam Prison affirmed: Educating prisoners is not only about implementing discipline or reforming labor, but also needs to combine humane activities, including the especially important role of culture, sports and family ties - the place that keeps the fire burning and is the motivation to help prisoners strive to reform.

During the 3 days (from June 20 to 23), the training conference will focus on the following contents: communication about family values, guidance on organizing sports activities, and organizing sports tournaments between officers, soldiers and prisoners.

Delegates and students attended a training session on the role and value of family for prisoners.

The training session took place in a close, exciting atmosphere with exchanges between the lecturers and the participating prisoners.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, delegates and students attended a training session presented by Dr. Hoang Thi Cuong, Head of the Department of State Management of Science - Religion - Security, National Academy of Public Administration. The training content was highly appreciated for its closeness and depth, helping prisoners better understand their role in preserving and connecting with their families and communities.

Representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa presented gifts to officers, soldiers and prisoners of Thanh Lam prison.

Also on this occasion, the Organizing Committee presented gifts of encouragement to officers, soldiers and prisoners.
