On July 13, Pha Long Border Guard Station ( Lao Cai province) informed that the unit coordinated with local authorities to urgently evacuate 8 households with 42 Mong people in Lo Co Chin village (Pha Long commune, Lao Cai province) due to the risk of landslides after prolonged heavy rain. Authorities discovered a 30m long crack on the mountainside, threatening the residential area below. 16 officers and soldiers were mobilized to assist in evacuating people and property to a safe place.

On July 13, many places in the northern mountainous region continued to experience heavy rain due to the influence of low pressure troughs combined with high-altitude wind convergence. Landslides still occurred locally and sporadically along major traffic arteries. On the Quy Sa - Van Ban route (Lao Cai province), on July 13, rocks and soil fell across a section near the Van Ban hydroelectric bridge. In Ta Phin commune (Lao Cai province), landslides occurred at Km13+300 of Provincial Road 155 and Km120 of National Highway 4D (Po Si Ngai village).

Landslide in Ca Mau , 5 houses swept away by river

At around 1:30 a.m. on July 13, a serious riverbank landslide occurred in Gia Rai Ward (Ca Mau Province), causing damage to many houses and people's property. Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (56 years old, whose house was affected) recounted that in the middle of the night, while everyone was sleeping, they suddenly heard a cracking sound from behind the house. In just a few minutes, the house completely collapsed into the river. Fortunately, the family discovered it in time, so there were no casualties. Through the survey, the landslide area was nearly 30m long, about 10m deep inland, causing 5 houses of the people to be affected and drifted down the river. The landslide area has not shown any signs of stopping, as many cracks continue to appear and expand.

Mr. Tran Tam Trung, Chairman of Gia Rai Ward People's Committee, said that the ward has mobilized forces to the scene to support people in moving their assets to a safe place and helping people stabilize their lives.
