The Mai An Tiem Festival 2025 takes place with traditional rituals: offering incense, sacrificing, remembering, and expressing gratitude for the merits of Saint Mai An Tiem, who reclaimed wasteland and established the fertile land of Nga Son, with its beautiful and fascinating mountains and rivers.

According to legend, Mai An Tiem was the adopted son of the 18th Hung King. When he was misunderstood by his father and exiled to a deserted island, Mai An Tiem and his wife and children overcame hardships, found a rare watermelon variety, reclaimed the remote island, and built the Northeast region of Thanh Hoa province into a prosperous countryside. Over thousands of years of history, the image of Mai An Tiem has been deeply imprinted in the cultural life of the community, as a symbol of the spirit of hard work, creativity, self-reliance, and self-reliance of the Vietnamese people.

Until now, the story of Mai An Tiem still holds its value, a great lesson for the younger generation in starting a business and creating success from hardship.
To commemorate the merits of Saint An Tiem, the people of Nga Son built a temple to worship him at the very place where it is said that Mai An Tiem and his family built a tent on the island, now in Nga Phu commune (Nga Son).
Along with the temple building, every year in the middle of the third lunar month, Mai An Tiem Festival is held with many rich activities to arouse the tradition of independence, self-reliance, creative labor, and overcoming difficulties. At the same time, it encourages today's generations to promote the tradition of their ancestors to build their homeland and country to become more and more prosperous and civilized.

This is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the land, culture and people of Nga Son, rich in cultural, historical and revolutionary traditions; thereby stimulating tourism , attracting domestic and foreign tourists to Nga Son in particular and Thanh Hoa in general.

After the ceremony, there was a festival with a special art program with the theme "Mai An Tiem offers sweet fruits to the world, in the middle of the ocean, building everlasting mountains and rivers", vividly recreating the journey of overcoming difficulties, finding rare watermelon varieties, exploiting remote islands, building the Northeast of Thanh Hoa province into a fertile homeland of Saint Mai An Tiem; as well as the responsibility of future generations in preserving and promoting the tradition of patriotism, building the homeland to become increasingly rich and developed.
