The 9 international markets of the film Mai mentioned above include the US, UK, France, Germany, Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.
Specifically, in the US, Mai's revenue reached 917,000 USD thanks to being shown in 154 theaters. In 8 European markets, the film earned 133,000 USD, showing in 40 theaters.
In total, the film's international box office revenue reached more than $1 million last week, according to Deadline on March 26.
In this exclusive news, Deadline added that Tran Thanh's film was released by 3388 Films in nearly 200 theaters in 9 North American and European countries, starting March 22.
This is also the biggest international release on the same day, on two continents, of a Vietnamese film ever.
In total, Mai's revenue reached over 22 million USD (nearly 540 billion VND), including record domestic revenue.
Mai is Tran Thanh's third film - after Dad, I'm Sorry and The House of No Man - to be released internationally by 3388.
Bo Gia currently holds the record for the highest-grossing Vietnamese film in the US with 1.3 million USD, but at this rate, Mai will overthrow Bo Gia's record.
