According to Reuters , Qatar Airways flight QR017 encountered an incident while en route from Doha to Ireland on May 26. However, the Qatar Airways plane still landed at Dublin International Airport as planned.

In a statement from Dublin Airport, Qatar Airways' Boeing 787 Dreamliner, flight number QR017, encountered turbulence while flying over Turkish airspace, but landed safely as scheduled before 1 p.m. on May 26 local time (about 7 p.m. Vietnam time).

As soon as QR017 landed at Dublin Airport, emergency response forces, including airport police, fire and rescue personnel, were deployed.

"On landing, QR017 was assisted by airport emergency services as ground control received information that six passengers and six crew were injured during the flight into turbulence," Dublin Airport added in a statement.

According to Ireland's RTE television channel, passengers when the plane landed at Dublin airport said that the turbulence incident occurred at the time of serving snacks and drinks to passengers on the plane and this incident lasted less than 20 seconds.

Qatar Airways has not yet commented on this incident.

It is not clear how many people were on the flight at the time. Passengers said the incident happened while the flight attendants were serving food and drinks.

The incident comes five days after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to severe turbulence. A 73-year-old British passenger died of a heart attack and 20 people were injured in the incident.

A 2021 study by the US National Transportation Safety Board found that aviation accidents involving turbulence are the most common type of accident.

According to the agency, from 2009 to 2018, turbulence accounted for more than 33% of all accidents reported by airlines. Most turbulence incidents resulted in injuries but no major damage to the aircraft.
