Future low-cost smartphones in the Galaxy A, M and F series may use chips from MediaTek
This information was given by leaker @Revengnus on X when he said that MediaTek has offered special prices for processing chips exclusively for Samsung. If this potential deal comes true, this will be a big win for MediaTek as Samsung is the world's largest Android smartphone manufacturer.
The MediaTek chips are said to be used in Samsung's budget smartphones, possibly in the low-end models in the Galaxy A, M, and F series. Meanwhile, the mid-range smartphones in the Galaxy A and M series could still use Exynos chips as recent information on benchmarking websites suggests that the Korean company is indeed opting for Exynos chips in its upcoming Galaxy A and M series smartphones.
Qualcomm currently has a strong position in the high-end smartphone market, while MediaTek is the largest chip supplier in the low-cost segment. Now, if MediaTek convinces Samsung to use Dimensity chips for low-cost smartphones, Qualcomm will face a huge challenge if it wants to surpass its rival in this market. More importantly, the partnership with Samsung will not only help MediaTek increase its market share but also open new doors for future cooperation with this partner.
