Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized that after 8 successful events, the VELP Program has become one of the prestigious dialogue and policy consulting programs, through exchanges and dialogues to enhance understanding, consolidate trust, and open up practical cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and the United States. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam wishes to continue to closely coordinate with the United States to implement the contents of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace , cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries in all fields, especially education and training.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always considers external resources to be important and breakthrough, including policy advice, management experience and human resource training. With the spirit of sincerity, trust, sharing, cooperation and development, in the context of the world undergoing profound changes, the Deputy Prime Minister believes that the VELP 2024 Program will help to raise many strategic issues, shape the vision and provide specific and practical recommendations for Vietnam.

The VELP 2024 program focuses on three main discussion topics on prospects and notable developments in the world economy and Asian economy; assessing major transformation trends and their impacts on Vietnam's economy; promoting new growth drivers in Vietnam, especially innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies; solutions to overcome the middle-income "trap" and transform the growth model.

During the discussion sessions, the professors were impressed by the success of the Vietnamese economy; they said that Vietnam is one of the most successful economies in the world in the past two decades. Appreciating Vietnam's potential and opportunities in participating in global supply chains in emerging technology industries, the experts made many specific and practical recommendations for Vietnam to seize opportunities from new trends, especially attracting new investment sources that are shifting, building an ecosystem to develop emerging technologies, promoting human resource advantages in AI development, focusing on investing in digital infrastructure and renewable energy, etc.

On the occasion of attending the VELP Program in 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai received Professor Douglas Elmendorf - President of Harvard Kennedy School, Professor David Golan - President of Harvard Medical School and professors of the Vietnam Program at Harvard University.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that educational and training cooperation is one of the important directions of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States. Professor Douglas Elmendorf affirmed to continue promoting cooperation with Vietnam, focusing on sharing research and assessments of the international, regional and economic situations in Vietnam; agreed to strengthen cooperation and training links between Harvard University and ministries, sectors and universities in Vietnam; affirmed that Harvard will continue to promote Fulbright University to become a facility providing high-quality human resources for Vietnam's development. Professor David Golan highly appreciated the cooperation programs with 10 medical and pharmaceutical universities in Vietnam, affirming that he will devote resources to continue promoting the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Harvard Medical University and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.
