Ms. Raimondo also emphasized that Washington wants to maintain its $700 billion trade relationship with China, asserting that trade relations can help bring stability to the overall relationship.

For his part, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said Beijing is willing to step up efforts to maintain economic consensus and strengthen cooperation with the US.

On the same day, Minister Raimondo met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng to discuss the implementation of the results achieved at the meeting between the two countries' heads of state in Bali (Indonesia) last November, as well as economic and trade issues of mutual concern.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue maintaining contact and supporting businesses of the two countries to implement cooperation effectively and substantially.

Ms. Raimondo's four-day visit to China, from August 27 to August 30, follows a series of visits to China by senior US government officials in recent months, aimed at easing tensions between the world's two largest economies.

According to plan, Ms. Raimondo arrived in Shanghai on August 29 and returned home on August 30.
