Just after a short time of being introduced to Vietnam, pickleball has attracted many players, especially young people. In many provinces and cities, especially big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, there are hundreds of pickleball courts.

Accordingly, the market for buying and selling products such as rackets, shoes, clothes... for the new sport of pickleball has also become more active, especially on social networking groups and e-commerce platforms.

According to statistics from the data mining and aggregation platform Metric.vn, in the first 6 months of the year alone, Vietnamese consumers spent VND510.6 billion on pickleball-related products such as rackets, shoes and apparel, a 1,282% increase over the same period last year. Notably, in the first quarter alone, total revenue reached VND228.7 billion, almost equivalent to the entire year of 2024 (VND271.9 billion).

Statistics from four e-commerce platforms, Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada, and Tiki, show that about 2.4 million pickleball products have been sold. This growth clearly reflects the explosive wave of the sport originating from the US in Vietnam.

In terms of price structure, the most popular product group with prices ranging from 500,000 to 750,000 VND brought in more than 75 billion VND in revenue, of which Shopee accounted for the largest proportion with more than 48 billion VND.

Ranked second is the product group at the 200,000-350,000 VND level with revenue of more than 60 billion VND, followed by the 350,000-500,000 VND group with more than 55 billion VND. The best-selling products currently include specialized training shoes and pickleball rackets.

Not only international brands, a series of domestic brands have also quickly caught up with the trend, launching product lines dedicated to this sport, from rackets, competition outfits to training accessories.

Not only that, this sport has also become a "livelihood" for many businesses, including Garmex Saigon Joint Stock Company (Garmex) - a famous textile and garment company in Ho Chi Minh City. Accordingly, Garmex cooperates with VinaPrint Joint Stock Company - a unit related to Chairman of the Board of Directors Bui Minh Tuan to exploit 1,000-3,000m2 of land for pickleball courts and other sports.

VinaPrint manages all operations, the cooperation is for 12 months and can be extended. In the second quarter, when the garment sector had no revenue, Garmex recorded 508 million VND from this affiliated company.

Pickleball was born in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington (USA). Thanks to being a sport that billionaire Bill Gates loves and having the participation of the world's top former tennis players, pickleball soon became a popular sport with good growth.

Pickleball was introduced to Vietnam in 2018, but in the past year, this sport has only become widespread and popular, attracting many young people and celebrities to participate.
