The 2025 Athletes Career Orientation Workshop is considered an important first step in helping Vietnamese athletes proactively prepare for the future and be ready to integrate into the labor market. This is also a premise to help athletes after retirement have the opportunity to continue to contribute good values to society.

Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet speaks at the Workshop

Speaking at the workshop, Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet said that in recent years, the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have had many support and preferential policies for generations of athletes and sports coaches to motivate, encourage, and promote their capacity to contribute and dedicate themselves to the country's sports and physical training career.

Under the close guidance of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the sports sector has actively sought partners to provide scholarships and job opportunities for athletes. However, training, career guidance, and career transition for athletes after finishing competition still face difficulties because the athletes’ educational level is not suitable for most other professions in society.

The career orientation workshop is expected to provide information, knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship to help athletes be confident and creative in proactively finding jobs and creating their own jobs after stopping competing at the highest level. It is also an opportunity for athletes to introduce their ideas and projects to investors in order to open up a new direction and new job opportunities for themselves.

Overview of the Workshop

"I hope that after this workshop, athletes will gain a lot of useful knowledge and confidently find suitable careers to develop after finishing their competitive careers," said Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet.

Through 6 topics presented by speakers, the Workshop provided a comprehensive picture of the opportunities and challenges after athletes retire from their peak competitive careers, including: Career orientation and discovering new sources of income; Application of digital technology ; Startup stories and lessons; The importance of building personal image and developing "soft" skills...

In particular, within the framework of the Workshop, Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen also shared important contents of gender equality in sports, emphasizing the role of women in sports, thereby guiding female athletes to be more aware of their own rights and opportunities in society and the new working environment.

Also within the framework of the Workshop, former athlete of the Vietnamese women's Sepak Takraw team, Luu Thi Thanh, shared her experiences, the importance of early preparation as well as how to choose a suitable career.

According to former athlete Luu Thi Thanh, making the most of the qualities accumulated from professional sports training and competition can be considered one of the most important factors. Athletes need to use those outstanding qualities as a solid foundation for their new career path.

Not just an event, the 2025 Career Orientation Workshop for Athletes has many humanistic meanings, contributing to providing the country's sports talents with the necessary skills and provisions when changing their jobs and careers.
