On March 20, the Inspector of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City said that he had contacted a female Korean tourist to return 350,000 VND, which she had previously been "ripped off" by a "pirate" driver at Da Nang airport.

The Department of Transport Inspectorate drew up a report for driver Trinh Anh Vo (right).

The Korean female tourist received prompt information from the Da Nang City authorities. Ms. SNO expressed her joy that not only was her money recovered but her complaint was also resolved promptly and thoroughly, not ignored.

However, Ms. SNO wants the Da Nang authorities to use the "overcharged" amount that the "illegal" driver returned for charity and send it to the necessary facilities. Mr. Tran Lanh said that the Da Nang authorities acknowledged the wishes of the Korean female tourist and will carry it out, and will continue to notify her of the results.

Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, on February 3, female tourist SNO from Korea landed at Da Nang airport and looked for a car to go to Hoi An. Driver Trinh Anh Vo (38 years old, residing at 43 Le Dinh Tham, Group 51, Hoa Thuan Dong Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) approached and exchanged for a price equivalent to GrabCar, which was 378,000 VND.

However, upon arrival, driver Trinh Anh Vo asked Ms. SNO to pay an additional VND350,000 for parking at the Da Nang airport car park. The female tourist reported "being cheated of money" to the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Company (AHT) and requested the relevant authorities to handle the matter and notify her of the results via email.

Upon receiving the report, the Aviation Security Center of Da Nang International Airport quickly verified and on February 19 found the Honda City car with license plate 43A - 529.55 at the parking lot of Terminal T2.

The Aviation Security Center coordinated with the Inspectorate of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City to issue a fine to the car owner, Mr. Trinh Anh Tuan (78 years old, residing at 43 Le Dinh Tham) for violating the business of transporting passengers by car without a business license.

"Illegal car" driven by Trinh Anh Vo "rips off" tourists

Mr. Tuan's Honda City with license plate 43A - 529.55 is a "black car" with a white license plate, not a taxi or GrabCar. Authorities also forced driver Trinh Anh Vo to return the 350,000 VND he "ripped off" the tourist.

Mr. Tran Lanh, Chief Inspector of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City, said that the authorities have informed the female tourist SNO of the results of the handling of the "illegal car" owner and the "overcharging" driver and have received feedback via email.
