No exceptions for celebrities

The case of many artists and celebrities involved in drugs has caused a stir in public opinion recently. On the morning of July 24, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that this unit is completing the file to hand over to Lao Cai Provincial Police to handle the case of Vu Xuan B. At around 10:00 p.m. on July 23, the traffic police stopped the car and conducted a search on Vu Xuan B. Through inspection, the traffic police determined that Vu Xuan B. tested positive for marijuana and marijuana.

Immediately after that, information about Vu Xuan B. attracted the attention of netizens. Many people continuously searched for information about this person and realized that this was a rapper with the stage name Binh Gold, active in the mumble rap school.

Previously, designer Nguyen Cong Tri was arrested for 'trading and organizing illegal drug use'. Cong Tri is known as the "big brother" of the Vietnamese fashion industry with more than 20 years of operation and has a profound influence both domestically and internationally. Many stars such as singer Chi Dan and model Andrea (known by her stage name An "Tay") were also arrested for drug scandals.

Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts Tran Huong Duong affirmed: "Artists are also citizens and must comply with the law. We have also developed a code of conduct for artists based on the legal framework and require strict implementation. Violations of the law and principles will be strictly handled in accordance with the law."

Deputy Director Tran Huong Duong said that there will be no preferential treatment or exceptions for artists or celebrities. In fact, the more famous they are, the more they must be punished properly and severely to set an example.

"Artists are famous people so they need to raise awareness. When violations occur, our point of view is to deal with them strictly and correctly. There are no forbidden zones, no exceptions," Mr. Tran Huong Duong added.

Will limit posting images of celebrities breaking the law

The report at the conference to review the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (held on July 17 in Hanoi ) affirmed that activities to clean up the social network environment and coordinate the handling of counterfeit goods (fake medicine, fake milk and functional foods) are being promoted.

The amended Advertising Law 2025, effective from January 1, 2026, was passed on June 16, 2025 at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, adding provisions on the obligations of celebrities when conveying advertising products. In addition to the general obligations like other subjects, there will be a number of specific obligations.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do hopes that there will soon be legal documents regulating the restriction of images of famous people who violate the law.

This is a step to clean up the market, prevent counterfeit goods, and ensure the quality of life and health of the people.

According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, the current restriction on posting information and images of artists who violate the law is only encouraged and has not been specified in legal documents.

"Currently, the law does not stipulate that celebrities and artists who violate the law cannot appear in the press and media. The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information is making a process to call (on a voluntary basis) on performing agencies, press and media agencies not to publish images of violating artists. However, because of the call, they have the right to do or not to do. We really want to institutionalize it by law to make sure. In the soonest time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will meet with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee to pilot. We believe that in some cases it can be implemented," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do affirmed.
