Flood water on Ma and Len rivers rises to alert level II

On the morning of September 23, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense issued the following dispatches: No. 26 to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa city, and Sam Son city, issuing Alert Level II on the downstream of the Ma River; Dispatch No. 27 to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Ha Trung, Nga Son, and Hau Loc districts, issuing Alert Level II on the Len River.

Rising Ma River water causes flooding on National Highway 15 through Quan Hoa district.

Currently, the water level of the Ma River is rising rapidly. At 04:00 on September 23, 2024, the water level of the Ma River measured at Ly Nhan Hydrological Station was (+10.51m), 0.49m below Alarm Level II (BĐII +11.00m); at Giang Hydrological Station it was (+4.69m), 0.81m below Alarm Level II (BĐII +5.50m). According to flood information on the downstream of the Ma River in bulletin No. DBLU-57/04h15/THOA, dated September 23, 2024 of the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, it is forecasted that the water level of the Ma River at Ly Nhan Hydrological Station is likely to reach Alarm Level II (+11.00m) at around 09-11:00 on September 23, 2024; At Giang Hydrological Station, it is likely to reach Alarm Level II (+5.50m) at around 8-10am on September 23, 2024.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense issued an Alert Level II on the lower reaches of the Ma River, requesting the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh, Hoang Hoa, Thieu Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa City, and Sam Son City to immediately deploy dyke patrols and protection according to the alert levels.

Organize inspection, review and have a plan to ensure safety for dike works; especially weak dike sections and culverts under the dike in the area. Proactively implement plans to evacuate people living in riverbanks and riverside areas.

Organize a 24/7 duty, closely monitor the development of floods and rains to be ready to handle situations from the first hour; promptly inform and report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense, Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

The water level of the Len River is rising.

At 4:00 a.m. on September 23, 2024, the water level on the Len River at the Len Hydrological Station was (+4.63 m), 0.37 m below Alert Level II. According to the flood warning on the Len River by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Hydrometeorological Station in Document No. DBLU-57/04h15/THOA, dated September 23, 2024, the warning that the water level of the Len River at the Len TV Station is likely to reach Alert Level II (+5.00 m) at around 06:00 - 08:00 a.m. on September 23, 2024.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense issued an Alert Level II on the Len River at Len, requesting the Chairmen of the People's Committees of Ha Trung, Nga Son and Hau Loc districts to immediately deploy dike patrols and protection according to the alert levels.
