Returning to the 42nd Naval Division, the Command of the 4th Coast Guard Region, stationed in Nam Can Commune, Ca Mau Province, on a hot sunny day, amidst the dry weather of the southernmost land, we were amazed to see rows of straight, green pineapples, interspersed with ripe yellow fruits, exuding a gentle fragrance. In a place with only sea breeze, mud and salty soil all year round, pineapples - a plant that is not easy to grow - thrived, bringing both surprise and admiration.
Below are pictures of pineapple harvesting by officers and soldiers of Squadron 42, Coast Guard Region 4:

Without modern machinery or agricultural experts, the soldiers of the 42nd Navy Division relied only on experience, will and team spirit to produce sweet and fragrant pineapples. |
Each ripe pineapple is a small step beyond the limits of nature and also a silent victory for the soldier. |

The bright smiles of the soldiers of Naval Division 42 when they produce sweet fruits on the salty alum land of Nam Can (Ca Mau). |
With saline soil, thin arable layer, and a lack of fresh water all year round, growing pineapples here seemed impossible. However, with the determination of “if you can do it, you can do it”, they gradually improved the soil, led water, built up the arable layer, selected suitable varieties and learned techniques from practice. The sweet pineapples on that saline land are not simply a product of increased production, but are the crystallization of sweat, will and perseverance to overcome difficulties of the officers and soldiers of Navy Division 42. |
