The Hill reported that in a post on the social network Truth Social on August 25, Mr. Trump criticized ABC News host Jonathan Karl when he interviewed Republican Senator Tom Cotton, and accused the network of being "fake news."

"I watched ABC Fake News this morning, including the ridiculous and biased interview by lesser-known reporter Jonathan Carl with Senator Tom Cotton (who is wonderful) and their Trump haters. I wonder why I am debating Kamala Harris on this network?", Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Former US President Donald Trump campaigned in North Carolina on August 21.

The former US president also mentioned the scandal involving ABC News reporter Donna Brazile in 2016, who gave questions to Hillary Clinton's campaign in advance and hinted that the same could happen to Vice President Kamala Harris this year.

"There are so many questions that need to be answered. Why did Ms. Harris refuse to debate on Fox News, NBC, CBS, even CNN? Wait and see!", Mr. Trump wrote.

Trump agreed to debate President Joe Biden on September 10 on ABC News. After Biden withdrew and Harris took his place, the Republican candidate reconsidered his plans but ultimately agreed to debate Harris as scheduled.

The former US president has proposed additional debates on Fox News and NBC News in September. However, Ms. Harris's campaign said it would only agree to ABC News' schedule before discussing plans for a second debate.

ABC News said the debate on September 10 will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, moderated by two hosts, David Muir and Linsey Davis.

A poll compiled by The Hill and Decision Desk HQ on August 26, based on 134 surveys, showed that Ms. Harris was leading Mr. Trump by 3.7 percentage points.
