Super Tuesday is the day when the most states in the US hold primaries and/or caucuses to choose their respective party’s presidential nominees. This year, Super Tuesday falls on March 5 and this day can be seen as a milestone of resounding victory for former President Donald Trump.

Specifically, Mr. Trump entered Super Tuesday after consecutive victories in the three states of Idaho, Missouri and Michigan in the race for the Republican nomination with Ms. Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the United Nations.

And on March 5, when 15 US states simultaneously held primary elections, Mr. Trump continued to show his dominance. As of 6:00 p.m. on March 6 (Vietnam time), former Mr. Trump had won over Ms. Haley in 14/15 states, including California, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Alaska, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Maine. Meanwhile, Ms. Haley only won in the state of Vermont.

With a total of 764 delegates won on Super Tuesday as of 6 p.m. on March 6, Mr. Trump is far ahead of Ms. Haley, who only gained 43 delegates. This result is not unexpected, and also on track for a rematch between Mr. Donald Trump and Mr. Joe Biden.

The incumbent US President also won big on Super Tuesday, even more than Mr. Trump. According to CNN, by 6:00 p.m. on March 6, President Biden had won 1,366 more Democratic delegates while his opponent, Jason Palmer, had only earned... 3 votes.

According to the rules, Mr. Trump needs to collect 1,215 out of 2,429 delegates to win the Republican nomination and Mr. Biden needs to win 1,968 out of 3,934 delegates to receive the Democratic nomination in the US presidential election in November this year.

Currently, Mr. Trump has 1,040 delegates, very close to winning the Republican primary election. And Mr. Biden has also collected 1,572 delegates on the Democratic side. The numbers show that, almost certainly, the two men will become opponents on the race to the White House this year.
