In Dat Tai carpentry village (Hoang Hoa commune), there are currently about 70 households participating in carpentry production, concentrated in the villages: Dat Tai 1, Dat Tai 2, Ha Thai. The revenue from carpentry is estimated at hundreds of billions of VND, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers. Thanks to the talent and skills of the craftsmen, wooden products in Dat Tai village have been present in all regions of the country, favored by the market, and highly appreciated for their quality. Appreciating the economic value that carpentry brings to the people and creating sustainability, the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district (old) has issued a project to develop Ha - Dat carpentry in the period of 2020-2025, with a vision to 2030. In this project, the goal is to form a large-scale carpentry production area, with the ability to compete, becoming the carpentry center of the whole province. At the same time, it becomes one of the local craft village tourist destinations. With that orientation, it has brought the local people the hope of bringing the quintessence of carpentry far and wide, adding sustainability to the craft village that has existed for hundreds of years.
Do Xuyen - Ba Lang fish sauce production village (Hai Thanh ward) was formed in the early 20th century and became one of the famous fishing villages of the province. After many ups and downs, difficulties, Do Xuyen - Ba Lang fish sauce products today still find a place, affirming the brand thanks to family secrets. Up to now, the craft village has about 100 households participating in fish sauce production using traditional methods. In response to new development needs, in the past 5 years, fish sauce households in the craft village have invested in expanding production scale, finding ways to improve product quality and design. Ba Lang Vu Gia fish sauce production facility of Mr. Vu Tien Diep in Xuan Tien 1 residential group has a history of hundreds of years. Because his family has had 3 generations of succession, attached to the traditional fish sauce making profession and "saved" a lot of valuable experience to create famous fish sauce, shrimp paste, sour fish sauce and shrimp paste products, which are trusted by many people. Currently, some products under the Vu Gia Ba Lang brand, such as shrimp paste, fish sauce, shrimp paste... have been well received by the market and consumers. On average, each year, Mr. Diep's family supplies the market with about 3 thousand liters of fish sauce, 10 tons of various types of fish sauce, creating regular jobs for 7 workers.
Mr. Vu Tien Diep, owner of Vu Gia Ba Lang fish sauce production facility, said that with the characteristics of being a long-standing traditional fish sauce production and processing unit, the facility always strictly adheres to the steps from selecting input materials, to marinating, distilling, and checking the protein content... In addition to focusing on improving product quality, the facility also invests in improving designs and labels to make the products more attractive to consumers, creating competitiveness in the market.
According to statistics from the Department of Rural Development (Department of Agriculture and Environment), as of July 2025, the province has 31 traditional occupations, 31 craft villages and 61 traditional craft villages that have been recognized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria according to the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment . The total annual revenue of craft villages in the province is about 1,500 billion VND. Craft villages have created jobs for about 16,000 workers, the average income of craft village workers is currently from 6 to 12 million VND/person/month. However, in recent years, many traditional occupations and craft villages in the province have been and are at risk of fading away and facing many difficulties and challenges.
Faced with that situation, appreciating the role of craft villages in socio-economic development, Thanh Hoa province has flexibly applied the mechanisms and policies of the Central Government on preserving and developing traditional crafts, craft villages and craft villages. At the same time, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued Decision No. 4182/QD-UBND approving the plan to implement Decision No. 801/QD-TTg dated July 7, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the "Program for preserving and developing Vietnamese craft villages in the period of 2021-2030" in Thanh Hoa province. Accordingly, the province focuses on directing localities to develop plans to restore and preserve traditional craft villages and craft villages that are at risk of fading away and being lost; supporting the development of traditional craft villages and craft villages that are operating effectively and new craft villages. At the same time, support investment in upgrading and completing the infrastructure of craft villages to serve production such as: Roads, drainage systems, electricity, clean water, construction of centers, points of sale, display areas, product introduction and promotion, warehouses...; promote trade promotion, brand building; value chain linkage of craft villages... thereby creating motivation for the province's traditional occupations, craft villages and craft villages to develop in a sustainable direction.
