Quang Nam will merge Que Son and Nong Son districts.

Kinhtedothi- The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued a Resolution on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Nam province. Accordingly, Nong Son and Que Son districts will merge from January 1, 2025.


National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man has just signed and issued Resolution No. 1241/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Nam province for the 2023-2025 period.

Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee decided to merge the entire natural area of 471.64 km2 (population size of 35,438 people) of Nong Son district into Que Son district. After the merger, Que Son district will have a natural area of 729.10 km2 and a population size of 139,566 people.

Regarding the commune-level administrative units of Que Son district, the entire natural area of 28.46 km2 and population of 3,190 people of Son Vien commune will be merged into Que Loc commune. After the merger, Que Loc commune will have a natural area of 63.30 km2 and a population of 9,674 people.

Thus, Que Son district will have 18 commune-level administrative units, including 15 communes and 3 towns: Dong Phu, Huong An, Trung Phuoc.

Regarding the commune-level administrative units in Quang Nam province, Hiep Duc district will establish Que Tan commune on the basis of merging Hiep Thuan commune and Hiep Hoa commune. Thus, Hiep Duc district will have 10 commune-level administrative units, including 9 communes and 1 town.

Thang Binh district will establish Binh Dinh commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of Binh Dinh Bac commune and Binh Dinh Nam commune; establish Binh Phu commune on the basis of merging the entire natural area of Binh Chanh commune into Binh Phu commune. After the arrangement, Thang Binh district has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.

In addition, Duy Xuyen district will merge the entire Duy Thu commune into Duy Tan commune; Tien Phuoc district will merge Tien Cam commune into Tien Son commune. Phu Ninh district will merge Tam Vinh commune into Phu Thinh town; Tam Ky city will merge Phuoc Hoa ward and An Xuan ward.

Nong Son district also proceeded to dissolve the People's Court and the People's Procuracy. The People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Que Son district are responsible for inheriting the duties and powers of the People's Court and the People's Procuracy of Nong Son district, Quang Nam province according to the provisions of law.

The Resolution will take effect from January 1, 2025.

Thus, after the arrangement, Quang Nam province will have 17 district-level administrative units, including 14 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; 233 commune-level administrative units, including 190 communes, 29 wards and 14 towns.
